London Mining awards scholarships to mining area schools
London Mining last month awarded 1000 scholarships worth US$ 28,000 to 83 schools in the Marampa and Marforki chiefdoms in the Port Loko District. The company also donated exercise books, school bags and mathematical sets to primary and secondary students in neighbouring communities in the district.
At the award ceremony, the company’s Community Relations Deputy Manager, Mohamed Saticon Conteh, encouraged the students to work hard at school.“The best gift one is given is education; please continue to develop your talents in school, so that in the future you can bring those talents to Sierra Leone’s growing companies, like London Mining.” he said.
The local manager of district council schools, Mr. Demba S. Koroma, thanked London Mining for the sponsorship and called on the students to make good use of the opportunity provided by the company.
Since 2010, London Mining has sponsored over 3,000 children in various schools in the Port Loko District.
