Congratulations to Nanette Thomas: Sierra Leone Iron Lady

Texas USA, December 29, 2012 – Dear Nanette Thomas: I am happy to add my voice to the chorus of congratulations on your award for being Activist of the Year 2012 in my motherland, Sierra Leone.  Under your wise, fearless, and strong-hearted leadership in the execution of your duty as a second in command in the Attitudinal and Behavioral Change (ABC) secretariat, the organization will increase its influence in promoting democracy and keep peace in the hearts and minds of every Sierra Leonean.  We in Texas, USA, had no regret when you left us at a crucial time when we dearly need you because we believe in your ascendancy to promote democracy and good governance back home.  (Photo: Nanette Thomas, Second-in-Command, ABC Secretariat, Sierra Leone)

I believe that the excellent work you  have done before the unpredictable successful general elections warrants the National Commission for Democracy (NCD) to honor you with a profound award.  I have no doubt that this recognition is most appropriate in view of your many contributions to the progress of the ABC secretariat. I believe in your patriotism, hence, very few Sierra Leoneans serving our country that I have the same affection and respect that I have for you.

I know you are in a period of mourning for the big loss, but your patriotic heart will reward you in some way to assuage your grief.  I hope that no matter what the future holds for you, God will always shower upon you his choicest blessings.  Do not mourn, as you usually tell people.  My wife and I rejoiced at 1:30 a.m. Texas time, on Saturday, December 29, 2012 when we read about your award.  Keep up the good work and I wish you well in all your undertakings.
