Court Clerk steals then attempts suicide

In Sierra Leone, those who are supposed to punish criminals are now the very ones engaged in criminal activities.

Police sources have confirmed that a Court Clerk of the Native Administration Court in Small Bo Chiefdom, Kenema, Edward Kpakra, has been detained at the Blama police after admitting that he stole a USB radio worth Le100,000 from one Alusine Kabba who works for the provincial Secretary’s office in Kenema.

Police sources revealed further that Mr. Kpakra was caught red handed selling the stolen radio to another chiefdom dignitary (name unidentified) for Le70,000. Kpakra is reported to have been also been fined for stealing and later attempted to commit suicide by sending his son to buy him caustic soda to drink but was lucky as the boy was caught with the poison.

The incident is said to have brought shame and disgrace to the Paramount Chief Dafie Benya and the entire Chiefdom. Angry Chiefdom residents have recommended the instant dismissal and imprisonment of Mr. Kpakra for disgracing them by his despicable criminal act.

Meanwhile, reports have stated that the Paramount Chief has immediately transferred the criminal chiefdom clerk.
