PAVO poised to boost academia and youths

According to the founder of PAVO, Sulaiman Conteh Jr, he thought it fit to establish an organization of such a nature with support from founding members.  “This group of determined men and women was established in 2006 based on the principles of love and better education for the youth of Sierra Leone’’, he stated.

He said in 2006 after its inception, scholarships were then awarded to deserving senior secondary schools and Tech Vocs in the western area of Sierra Leone for two consecutive years, adding that the scholarship encompasses a year’s tuition fees, school materials and a medal which serves as a memory to the beneficiaries.

The founder also measured that the awarding ceremony was better known as “People’s Choice Award” and awards are based on academic excellence of students. “It serves as a motivation point for school going persons in Sierra Leone which leads to better school produce and this have always been the dream of PAVO’’, he said.

He also mentioned that their activities include award of academic scholarship, organizing national debate, organizing national quiz in schools and colleges, national writing competitions, annual school award ceremonies, youth capacity building and community development projects.

“When you invest on the building up of youth capacity, then you are sure of having a better tomorrow, considering the fact that you do more together than alone,” he said.
