Kenema is among cities marked the “hot spots” by security apparatus considering its history of violence in past elections. Just a few weeks ago, one of the parliamentary candidates for the All People’s Congress (APC) party, Mr. Prince Bindi’s  home was attacked, his wife and younger brother allegedly beaten and stabbed respectively, but it has been all quiet and peaceful here today.

The security personnel at St. Paul’s school campus polling station told that there has been no incidence of violence reported anywhere in the city so far, a statement confirmed by the Resident Minister East, William J Smith. The Resident Minister himself and the chairman of the presidential campaign committee for South-East Hon. Musa Tarawally had just return from touring Kenema City.

The Minister of Internal Affairs Hon. Musa Tarawally who had promised security and safety of all Sierra Leoneans during the elections process said he is very much satisfied with the security and peacefulness of the voting process and that he is visiting key districts in the South and East to monitor the elections process.
