Maada Bio Leads SLPP in a Failed Rally in Kenema
Kenema City, Sierra Leone – 19th October 2012, Maada Bio, the SLPP opposition flagbearer is trying his luck with Kenema today with a rally after a very poor performance in Pujehun two days ago. Political pundits have always identified Kenema as an SLPP stronghold in Sierra Leone’s political divide. Based on their performance in Kenema, it seems that notion has become a thing of the past. Kenema residents are saying that the President has been performing his duty of national development without regards to strongholds.One resident said “the man just opened an ultra modern mall here just few months ago, “referring to President Koroma.
As Maada Bio’s rally commences here in Kenema city, by the look of things though, I must say that the turnout is not as great as one would expect considering Kenema is dubbed as a stronghold of the SLPP.
The rally has about ten vehicles with two trucks with set mounted on them. Even a quarter of Hanga Road, the main street the rally is threading now as I write this piece is half empty. And just by looking at his face, one could see that Maada is very disappointed and frustrated especially here in Kenema where he expected to pull the biggest crowd.
He is presently seated in his vehicle half placid throughout the rally.
