Over 2 missing containers “James Sonnie John Breaks Silence”
Sierra Leone National Shipping Company Ltd., Managing Director, Mr. James Sonnie John, has broken his silence following the long dispute on the missing of those two out of six containers at the quay.
According to him nobody knows the whereabouts of the two missing containers.
He noted that, since 2011 to-date UNICEF has not been fulfilling the MOU signed between the Sierra Leone National Shipping Company Ltd., and UNICEF; he also noted that to- date there are outstanding bills that UNICEF has not fulfilled for payment.
However, he raised concern that the Sierra Leone National Shipping Company Ltd., is an institution on its own while the Sierra Leone Ports Authority (SLPA) is the landlord, and Bolory is the firm that is in charge at the quay.
Mr John noted that there is a lay-down policy with ports management that after 90 days the auctioneer who is also the Government Rep, Mr. Alhaji Alimu Sesay (aka) (AWOKO), has the right to auction all those containers that have exceed 90 days.
He noted that at one point they were called at State House to address both parties.
Meanwhile the SLPA, PRO, S.K Sesay has issued a press release that the SLPA has no hand or dealing with regards the two missing containers.
