Bo City Youths Denounce Violence

Hundreds of youths across Bo the second largest city in Sierra Leone on Sunday October 14th, demonstrated their desires with placards condemning violence in the elections slated for November 17.

The group  named Kissy-Town Section Youths showcased their inborn desires and drive toward violent activities in the coming days leading to the multi-tier elections. Talking to the chairman of the group, Abdul Jalloh, he said that the aim of his organization is to fight against the political tension and the culture of fanning the flames of violence in a pre and post electioneering exercise.

Abdul maintained that it is no doubt that the Kissy-Town community under Constituency (68) had always been prone to violent activities, saying the area is currently tagged the most troublesome area in electioneering violence. He noted that this campaign is aimed at educating the gullible minds of fellow youths to deviate from and denounce violence. The chairman also noted that the initiative is spirited under a local base approach phenomenon to combat the practice of politicians using them for the wrong purposes.

Also talking to this reporter is the Civil Society Head of the entire South and Eastern Region, Alex Nallo who said he had joined the youths owing to the nature of his job which has always been a subsidiary to resuscitate and help out such initiatives by youths.

He explained that they will monitor the elections and kick against any political parties or person that will attempt to promote violence. He noted that they will name and shame any politicians caught inciting violence amongst or any other form of platform.

Talking to the conduit and daughter of the soil Chadia Talib who supported the initiative both morally and financially, she noted that it is a good omen as the idea was self initiated by the youths.  She maintained that if it would have been promoted by any political group may have sent wrong message to the very youths.

Chadia maintained that she will continue to promote the development of the youths, contribute in her own way to bring sanity amongst youths in that part of the country.
