FCC Bans Workers Using Party Colours
Top management team of the Freetown City Council (FCC) on October 10th, temporarily terminated the use of party attire including uniform bearing political party colours and regalia in order to avoid embarrassment.
Management pointed out that they are aware of the current electioneering processes in the country, citing that the council is being faced with regular security threats owing to the proximity of the head office of FCC closer to the party headquarters of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).
Due to the ongoing threats management of the council have advised staff to refrain from using colors depicting the various political parties with immediate effect. “All uniformed personnel apart from members of the metropolitan police should terminate the use of their uniforms to work until further advice is given”, said the internal memo warning.
It was also suggested that while putting on regalia at the office premises to work, staff members must avoid putting on any form of party colours especially red or green.
They also advised members of staff to avoid all forms of verbal confrontation, saying it is a recipe and potential tendency of degenerating into physical attacks, the release further encouraged all to abide by the above order very seriously so as to maintain a peaceful co-existence.
