Central Mosque Gets Chief Imam

The Central Mosque (Ghadaffi Mosque) at Rokupa, Wellington, on Saturday October 6th inaugurated and awarded Alhaji Osman I. Bangura as the Chief Imam, at an auspicious ceremony which took place at the Mosque vicinity.

In his opening remarks the chairman of the occasion Alhaji Osman Dumbuya pointed out that the award of the chief imam is not a surprising one to them, adding that they have an eligible vibrant and hard working Imam who is ready to work in the best interest of his people.

In an historical background of the United Muslim League, Alhaji Usman M.S. Kargbo noted that before the construction of the mosque, they had been stranded for a praying ground, adding that at the time ex Libyan Leader Ghadaffi visited the country such constraint was laid before him and that with no delay the contraction started with the help sole sponsorship of the late Ghadaffi.

Also in explaining the role of Imams in nation building, Dr Mohamed Habib Sheriff said the main role is to educate people about peace in the entire world, also to educate the world about cultural duties such as inter-religious and inter-tribal disputes.

The newly inaugurated and awarded national Chief Imam Alhaji Osman I Bangura expressed his thanks and appreciation for choosing him, he promised the congregation never to disappoint them and assured to work with them according the Islamic law.
