The President made this call while delivering his key note address to thousands of people from all walks of life that participated in the 52nd Annual JALSA SALANA Conference of the Ahmaddiyya Mission hosted in Bo City, Southern Region
Dilating on the theme of the conference “Love for All, Hatred for None”, President Koroma noted that the theme for this particular year reinforced the practice of goodwill and religious tolerance which Sierra Leoneans enjoyed today and applauded the Alhmadiya mission for its valuable role in the promotion of Islam and education since the mission’s establishment almost seventy years ago.
He noted with appreciation that the mission has produced famous and quality scholars in diverse areas of national developments, such as doctors, lawyers, politicians and administrators, among other, and that it still continues to produce more in terms of development even in the remote areas of the country.
The President also noted that Islam, which the mission propagates, is a religion that embraces peace, love for one and religious tolerance combined with discipline for which Sierra Leoneans are respected for throughout the world,
He touched on the Agenda for Prosperity which he said does not imply that people should sit idly on hammocks waiting for the prosperity to reach them but according to him, it simply means that all Sierra Leoneans should be disciplined , law abiding and ready to transform the nation into a middle class income nation.
He however warned that whatever gains the people make as a nation can plunge the country into chaos without discipline and respect for law order, adding that discipline, law and order law start from the home and extends to educational institutions, citing the cases of theft in hospitals where drugs meant for the poor are stolen while law enforcement agents take bribes and pervert justice and business people inflate prices and sell expired goods indiscriminately to the public.
All these, President Koroma stressed, will not only negate the concept of prosperity but will also dampen the spirit of his dream for prosperity for all Sierra Leoneans.
Messages of goodwill were delivered by prominent citizens including the Minister of Social Welfare Gender and Children’s Affairs, Mr. Moijueh Kaikai.
