Leone Stars coach & twelve foreign based players arrive in Tunis for Tunisia crucial game

Those that landed in Tunis on Monday are Azerbaijan based trio of Ibrahim ‘Obrey’ Kargbo, Sheriff Suma and Samuel Barlay, Alfred ‘Zagallo’ Sankoh who plays in Turkey; Sweden based Alhassan ‘Crespo’ Kamara, Mustapha Dumbuya of English club Portsmouth and midfielder Abu Tommy.

Tommy who is based in Moldova was drafted into the squad by Coach Lars Olof Mattsson in replacement for the Italy based injured midfielder Rodney Strasser.

Kei Kamara of Sporting Kansas City in USA, Norway based Khalifa Jabbie, Mohamed ‘Medo’ Kamara who is plying his trade in Serbia and German Bundesliga defender Gibril ‘Barel’ Sankoh arrived in Tunis at midday on Tuesday.

Azerbaijan based Julius Gibrilla Woobay is expected to be in Tunis later on Tuesday.

Assistant coach Lennert Andersson and goal keeper coach Andy Murray are the members of Coach Mattsson’s backroom staff.

Also in Tunis is the Azerbaijan based Nigerian born Victor Kayode who has expressed interest to play for Sierra Leone and has been given a Sierra Leonean passport.

The Acting General Secretary of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Abdul Rahman Swarray said in Tunis that they are still working on Kayode’s documents to make him eligible to play for Leone Stars.

The team went to the gym at the El Mouradi hotel on Tuesday morning to have their first physical training session and are scheduled to have their first practice session on the pitch at 18:00 local time (17:00GMT).

Meanwhile, players and officials are due to leave Tunis for Monastir on Wednesday by road. Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles are already in Monastir, as they departed the capital city on Monday.
