Togo football team face tragedy ahead of African Cup of Nations in Angola
The Togolese football team bus has faced a disastrously  attack by a well armed rebel group in Cabinda, Angola immediately after crossing into the country from its neighboring country Dr Congo where the Togolese football team pitched tents prior to the competition which is due to start on Sunday the 10th of January.
Several players including a medical personnel, team aides and passengers accompanying the team were seriously wounded; however, the bus driver is confirmed dead after the team encountered suppressive guns shots from.
Cabinda is an oil-rich province that has highly been enmeshed in a long-running independence scramble with Angola. Amongst those shot are said to be Serge Akakpo, and Kodjovi Obilale.
The whole team of players and passengers are taken to the nearest hospital for injured players and passengers to be given medical treatment. Emmanuel Adebayor of Manchester city was not present during this tragedy event.
Cabinda is to host seven African Cup of Nations matches; the consequence of Togolese football team to take up their match on Monday 11th January is unclear at the moment.
