First Bellamy boy flies to USA to take up scholarship

Sahid Conteh, 14,  tomorrow flies out of Sierra Leone to the USA to take up a four year scholarship at Dunn School, one of the most prestigious high schools in California.  He is the first student from the Craig Bellamy Foundation Academy to have the opportunity to study overseas.

The scholarship will give Sahid access to some of the best academic and sporting facilities in the USA for the next four years, thanks to the generous support of the Rowland family who sponsored the scholarship.

Kelsey Sullivan, the Foundation’s USA Co-ordinator, will fly with Sahid and remain in California to help him settle in to daily life.

Sahid said; “I am very excited to be going to America.  I am looking forward to meeting new people, playing football, and getting a good education.  My parents feel very happy and very proud.  I want to thank the Craig Bellamy Foundation and Dunn School for giving me this opportunity.”

Tim Kellow, CEO, Craig Bellamy Foundation, said: “After a lot of hard work, we are delighted that this is finally happening for Sahid.  I know that he will make CBF and his country proud and one day return to Sierra Leone as a leader.  I hope this scholarship will be the first of many for our boys.”
