Man 28, Rapes Girl 9
One Saffa Musa Fakondor last Saturday, September 15, 2012 appeared before Magistrate Komba Kamanda of Court No 2 with a two count charge ranging from unlawfully carnal knowledge contrary to Section 6 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Child Act, Cap 31 of the laws of Sierra Leone 1960 as amended; indent assault, contrary to Section 9 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Child Act, Cap 31 of the laws of Sierra Leone 1960. According to the offence, the August 13, 2012 allegedly abused a girl under the age of ten.
Testifying in court, the nine year old girl said that at around 2:00 hours she was playing when the accused Saffa Musa called her to his room as according to him, her elder brother Simili wanted to see her there. She said when she materialized at his room she discovered that her brother was not there. The poor girl went on to tell the court that upon her arrival, the accused held her and led her into his bedroom where he laid her on his bed and forcefully penetrated her penis into her. After he had finished, she said he gave her Le500.
The mother of the child, Mariatu Bangura also testified in court. According to her, she knew the accused through her son, Simili who she said brought him to their house to stay with them. She went on to state that she never had an inclination that the accused would do such a thing to her daughter.
The matter was adjourned to the 22nd of September, 2012.
