Rodney Michael cleared to run for FA Presidential race

The Sierra Leone Football Association’s (SLFA) Electoral Committee has confirmed that Mr. Rodney Michael is eligible to contest for the FA Presidential seat slated in the forthcoming September 14-16, 2012 election in Freetown or Kenema.

Rodney Michael will battle it out with current Vice President J.S Keifala, FC Johansen’s owner Madam Isha Johansen, and WAFA Vice Chairman Foday Turay, for the hot seat to succeed Mr. Nahim Khadi.

Rodney’s nomination was confirmed despite him being suspended by the Minister of Youths and Sports, Hon. Paul Kamara. Earlier, football stakeholders in the country and the world’s governing body FIFA stated that the electoral committee should look into the matter which led into a final burying of the hatchet clearing Rodney Michael to run in the elective congress for the position of FA President.

Lawyer Lansana Kotor Kamara, chairman of SLFA’s electoral committee said their decision to confirm Rodney Michael eligible for the FA Presidential race is the beginning to the successes leading to the September 14-16 elective congress.

Supporters of Rodney Michael’s camp including delegates across the country were delighted about the genuine decision taken by the Electoral Committee, adding “we hope these elections will end peacefully without any interference from any quarters”.

“Rain or shine we’ll always continue to support him as our next F.A President”, delegates of Rodney Michael across the country told Sierra Express Media Sports.
