PLDC Chair May Not Be Awarded Symbol
If the APC Symbol Award Committee abides by the rules and regulations governing the process approved by the party’s National Advisory Council (NAC) and the pledge made by the Leader and Chairman of the Party, President Ernest Bai Koroma, then the Port Loko District Council Chairman, Ahmid Munirr Fofanah will not be awarded the symbol to contest the November Local Council Elections. According to electorates in the district, the incumbent is inefficient in service delivery during his four-year tenure for which they have appealed to the Committee to award the symbol to a development-oriented individual that will transform the district once referred to as ‘Blackman London.’
Ahmid Munirr Fofanah has clearly seen the writing on the wall as he did not undertake any meaningful development project in the community for which he has embarked on lobbying big Vons within the corridors of power to manipulate the system so that he will be awarded the symbol.
It was further revealed to this medium that Ahmid Munirr Fofanah no longer devotes his time and energy to council programs but is primarily engaged in chasing the Symbol Award Committee to be awarded a symbol, a situation that has brought all council activities to a standstill and in the process undermining development in the district.
Projects like the construction of the mini-stadium, water supply, rehabilitation of roads among others have all stalled without a word from the council.
Santigie Bangura, an APC supporter admonished the Committee to allow the people to select the candidates of their choice rather than imposing on them cautioning “if a candidate is imposed on us we may not vote in the November polls.”
