Africell Ends Ramadan Promo
Africell’s Ramadan Hidden Treasure Hunt 2 promotion ended on Monday 20th August with final presentations of prizes won by the various subscribers presented on August 22nd at the company’s headquarters at No. 1 Pivot Street, Wilberforce, west of the capital, Freetown.
Addressing the congregation, Africell’s Corporate Affairs officer, Joe Abass Bangura said this promotion started on Friday July 20 and ended on Monday August 20, 2012, adding that since the promotion started Africell organized three sets of presentations to winners and have hosted also the grand finale presentation of prizes to winners in the draws done for various shows held from the 9th to the 20th of August 2012.
He said during their first presentation ceremony, a nineteen year old pupil of the Services Secondary School, Ishmael M. Bockarie won the first grand prize of Le 20,000,000, adding that a driver Abdulai Abass Koroma was second lucky winner.
He announced the names of three additional star prize winners who won the sums of twenty million Leones (Le 20,000,000) to be Sao Munda, a farmer from Bo, Joseph Gbaglaa, a second hand shoe seller in Kenema and Christopher Berlleha, a motor bike (okoda) rider in Waterloo. He said winners from the provinces will receive their prizes in their respective towns and added that already tax remittances have been taken in accordance to the provisions of the Finance Act of 2008 covering all lottery winnings procedures, which states that each winning that reaches a threshold of Le 500,000 and above is subject to 10% NRA lottery tax.
He gave cumulative statistics of winnings from the 20th of July to 20th August, totaling the number of winners to be five hundred and thirty-eight, cash prizes Le 173,700,000, units won to be 92,400, plasma TV 33, fridges 11, and generators 13.
Africell’s head of Event and Sponsorship, Arthur B. Kallon thanked God for making the promotion a success. He encouraged subscribers to become ambassadors for the company as they received their various awards.
The occasion was chaired by Africell’s Media Supervisor, Tommy Terry Coker. He said Africell is the biggest GSM provider in the country, adding that they are always ready at all time to put a smile on the faces of their numerous subscribers.
The various winners thanked the network for being prudent in line with their corporate social responsibilities to the people of Sierra Leone. They promised to become ambassadors for the company.
