Aspirant & US based women’s organization donates to destitute children
In a bid to improve the life of children in Constituency 66, especially around Calaba Town East of Freetown, the All People’s Congress Party’s (APC) Haja Aminata Kabba Kamara (in photo) in collaboration with the US Women’s Association based in New Jersey USA, over the weekend assisted several deprived children in the community.
Orphanage children in crisis at Kola Tree, Calaba Town, benefited from the assorted donations which included used clothing, learning materials, footballs, stationery and other assorted items. Speaking at the ceremony, Haja Kamara admonished the children to be steadfast in doing the right thing at the forefront of everything they are doing “you must bear in mind that they are the future of the nation and therefore no matter, you must not take your current situation to determine your future, that is why people from afar have been visiting you in the orphanage,” she said.
She further announced that as part of her contribution, noting that if awarded the APC party symbol, she would improve the profile of women in the community as well as working with the men to bring development in the community.
Handing over the donated materials the women;a leader, madam Patricia, speaking on behalf of a ten man delegation encouraged the children of being each others keeper and to keep away from violent conduct.
She asked them to read their books, and as their biological parents are not with them, she said the US Women’s association will be visiting them when necessary.
Receiving the item the Proprietress of the orphanage, Isatu Sento Kamara thanked Aminata and the US Women’s delegation for what she describe as their passionate feeling for the less privileged. She furthered to assure that the items donated will be used for the intended purposes.
The delegation also visited the Amputee Camp at Grafton and other orphanages in the country.
