Journalist to Represent Constituency 20

Tamba Sylvester Bangah (in photo), a journalist working for The New Citizen press in the Eastern Region has declared intention to represent his people in Constituency 20, Kono Central under the APC ticket.

Tamba Sylvester Bangah, who is contesting against Dr. Aiah Dabundeh for the party symbol, told The New Citizen yesterday that he was born in Bandakoro Village, Gbense Chiefdom, Kono District some 35 years ago and has the unflinching support of his people.

He continued that he attended Christ the King College in Bo before he proceeded to the Freetown Technical Institute now called the Milton Margai College of Education and Technology and graduated with a City and Guilds Certificate in Mechanical Engineering and a Diploma in Community Development Studies from the Hamile College of Commerce and Technology in Koidu City.

When pressed as to why he decided to work as a journalist, he responded that it is to advocate for his people through which he has facilitated, through Africell, the supply of 24-hours electricity to the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) radio station in Kono.

He continued that he also facilitated the construction of a Traders’ Union office in Kono, paid the medical bill for the appendicitis operation conducted on a sixteen-year old girl attending the Koidu Girls Secondary School and awareness raising campaigns to ensure that mining companies adhere to their corporate social responsibility amongst others.

Tamba Sylvester Bangah further told The New Citizen that the current SLPP MP for the constituency, Hon. Tamba Kaibanja has done little or nothing to advance the area or improve the welfare of the people as he seldom visits the constituency.

According to the APC aspirant, Constituency 20 does not deserve to be poor, the reason he is vying for the symbol to change the face of the area as well as bridge the communication gap between the peoples’ representative and the constituents that would fast-track development.

He further articulated that with the ongoing rehabilitation of the road network in Koidu City, restoration of electricity and water supply, rehabilitation of the Government Hospital, construction of schools in various parts of the district and the free healthcare scheme for pregnant and lactating mothers and children under-five years, the APC is poised to win massive votes in the district.

He appealed to the people, especially youths, to vote en-mass for the APC and promised to work closely with his people revealing that he has succeeded in luring one of the most popular PMDC members, Sahr Musa and supporters of other political parties to the APC.
