Brima Keita Competition to Commence this Weekend

The much trumpeted and eagerly awaited Brima Keita competition will commence on Sunday 12th August 2012 at the K-T Field playing ground Kingtom.

The competition will feature 23 teams in the Kingtom Communities, categorized under the following groups as follows:

Group: (A) Kroobay, Red Pump, Crab Town, Adelaide Street, Berwick Street,

Group: (B) Krootown Road, Congo FC, Syke Street, Congo Market, Priscilia Street,

Group: (C) Super Holding, Byne Street, Kingtom Bridge, Bike Riders FC, and

Group: (D), Hennessy Street, Y2K Veterans FC, Sand Grey Bush.

The opening match will commence on Sunday August 12th, where Crab Town will engage Kroobay FC and on Monday August 13th Krootown Road FC will play against Priscilia Street FC.

Organizers of the competition, Kingtom Football Association (KFA) revealed to Sierra Express Media Sports reporter, that the ultimate champions of the Brima Keita competition will bag the sum of Le3 million plus a giant Golden trophy, Runners-up will receive a sum of Le1.5 million plus silver trophy, third place winner will receive bronze medal and a sum of Le500,000.

A member of the Organizers Association, Alhaji .K. Tarawally said 60 certificates will be awarded to the participating teams.  Mr. Tarawally said the presentation of awards will be organized at a special Awards Night Ceremony at the St Edwards Secondary School Compound, Kingtom.

Talking to the stakeholder of this competition Brima Keita, who happened to be Western Area Chairman for the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), was asked if the competition was organized to sell his political candidature, he responded by disclaiming all claims of political undertone, he noted that he was once a footballer and one time Team Manager of the Old Edwardian Football Club and Vice Chairman of the East End Lions Football Club, saying the competition is purely based on sportsmanship and football oriented reasons.

He said, he hopes that these soccer games will help preach non-violence to youths of the country especially at a time when we are about to hold the November 2012 elections.  He said he urges youths to be model as the future will be there to decide
