Ex Combatants Promise to Strike Again

Latest reports reaching this press stat that ex-combatants who some time last week beat up the Minister of Defence, Retired Major Alfred Paolo Conteh, have begun marauding passengers’ vehicles in the East part of Freetown.

According to reports the ex-combatants have promised to attack innocent civilians in a nationwide campaign spree starting from the East Part of Waterloo if their arrested colleagues under police custody are not released. Sources also say that the ex-combatants promised to continue their relentless struggle until their monies are given to them by the government.

When Sierra Express Media reporter contacted the local unit commander of the Waterloo Police Divisional Headquarters over the alleged threat, Superintendent Edmond Issa Conteh, that he is aware of this threat and said his division is already putting measures in place to forestall all plans by these wounded in action ex-combatants.

 The superintendent goes on to assure that his division would not sit idly by to allow this threat bear fruit, he said he is aware that there is an ongoing saga between the state and ex-combatant over monies due them but said that does not give them the right to strike terror to innocent people; he said further if there is any grievances such should be channelled to the appropriate authorities.

Also Operation Officer at the Waterloo Police Division, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Daniel Bongroh, said patrol teams are already monitoring activities during the day and night. He goes on to warn the ex-combatants to stay out of trouble or risk facing the long arm of the law.
