€10 Million for HRMO

Acting Head of Government at the European Union Office in Sierra Leone, Mathis Hamburger has revealed that an additional sum of €10 million has been provided to the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) to accelerate the current transformation and reform its projects.

According to the EU government boss, this additional straw brings the total project cost for Sierra Leone into €50 million.

Mathis Hamburger made this disclosure August 2 during the official opening ceremony of a two day preview retreat organized by the HRMO.

He went on explaining that the 10 million Euros will be used to re-enforced HRMO activities at local government level, mainstreaming the Anti-corruption commission to the civil service and other current regional programs at HRMO.

Mr. Hamburger pledged to continue supporting the HRMO as Sierra Leone will continue to experience a weak public service if that support is not granted.

The Acting Head of Government EU furthered that another €6 million is currently on its way for the HRMO under the multi-sector of the all civil service development plan, which will be completed in September this year.

Director General at the HRMO, Mr. Ernest Surrur thanked the EU for making these contributions, which he notes will provide a professional civil service in Sierra Leone.

Mr. Surrur praised President Ernest Bai Koroma for transforming the mandates of the HRMO from its previous mandates under the Establishment Secretary.

He said the management and functional review undertaken by the office will be used to chat the way forward for the institution. The perfect review panel is schedule to end on August 3. Other development partners at the meeting include UNDP, PSRU and JICA.
