Iran Envoy Invites President Koroma to Tehran

The outgoing Iranian Ambassador to Sierra Leone Dr. Nusratullah Maliki has presented an official invitation to President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma to attend this year conference of non-allied nation’s schedule to take place in the Iranian capital, Tehran in September.

While taking official leave of the President at state lounge, the Iranian Ambassador praised the effort made by President Koroma in transforming the nation into a developing country since he took over office in 2007.

Ambassador Dr. Nusratullah Maliki commended the strides made by the Sierra Leonean President in promoting good governance, peace and human right, adding that the people of Iran will always be friends with Sierra Leone.

The conference of non-allied nations, the outgoing Iranian Ambassador continues, will be attended by over 30 heads of states globally and other personalities from World Wide Institutions. The conference he noted will be looking at how non-allied nations will build on their co-operations to foster economic development.

In his response President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma expressed gratitude to the contribution of the Iranian people and government in promoting his government’s agenda for change program, especially in the agricultural sector. President Koroma also thanked the outgoing Iranian Ambassador for his personal contributions to other areas of development in Sierra Leone.

He assured the people and government of Iran that Sierra Leoneans will always be by their side. The dynamic Sierra Leone head of states further assured the Iranian envoy that the tractors donated by the Islamic Republic of Iranian to the government of Sierra Leone will be judiciously used to promote the small holder commercialization farming and provide more food to Sierra Leone.

In another development, President Koroma has decorated and promoted the new Chief of Defence Staff of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed forces Samuel Omar Williams to the rank of Major General. During the decoration ceremony at state lounge, President Koroma called on Major General Samuel Omar Williams to de-politicize the armed forces and make sure that the upcoming November 17th 2012 elections are conducted in a peaceful and friendly atmosphere.

RSLAF’s new CDS Major General S. O. Williams promised to abide loyal to the call of serving Sierra Leoneans. He said the RSLAF will be working alongside the Sierra Leone Police to man the November 17th elections.
