Airtel Rising Star Regional in Bo
The Airtel Rising Stars football tournament regional was in the Southern part of the country, on Bo soil this past week. Both boys and girls team took part efficiently to put their teams on the road to Kenya.
German FC from Bo defeated Dot.com FC by 1-0 but the organiser disqualified German FC for using first division player in the boys’ category .The first half goal from Alfred Ballay for German F.C was just a wasted effort at the end of the match.
The second match was between Water Stars from Bo and crusaders from Bonthe which ended 3-1 in favour of Water Stars. Unfortunately, a similar incident took place as at the first match in which Water Stars were disqualified out of the tournament for using first division player automatically qualifying Crusaders for the tournament.
The third match was between Young Banta Strikers from Moyamba and K. Foot FC from Bo. K.Foot FC played in a very defensive manner which qualified the team with two goals from Yusuf Kamara taking them to the group stage of the tournament.
The female wing of the Southern match took off with Soluku Star from Moyamba and Edmond Michael foundation (EMF) in Bo. Soluku Star qualified on post-game penalty by two goals to Zero.
Another female encounter was between Shooting Starlets from Bonthe and Golden Queens from Bo. The match was just one way traffic, Golden Queens dominated the entire match in which they won by 4-0. Goals from Fatmata Kamara, Miickalasobi, Yeama Humper and Princess Lamina respectively placed Golden Queens on the ladder for the next stage.
The final match of the day was the start of Group B in the Boys category between Crusaders FC and Dot com FC. The match ended 2-1 in favour of Crusaders. Mohamed Kamara and Francis Kamara scored 3 goals by putting Crusaders in Group B.
