UK branch hold memorial service for late Chukuma Johnson
As the funeral service was going on for the late deputy speaker of the Sierra Leone House of Parliament at Waterloo in Freetown on Sunday July 29th also on the same day the APC United Kingdom and Ireland Branch held a memorial service for the late Chukuma Johnson, at the Bermondsey Central Hall Methodist Church at 256 Bermondsey Street, London, SE1 3UJ.
Speaking during the memorial service the preacher Winston Webber described the late man as a person who contributed in the development of the All Peoples’ Congress party and who would be a big loss to the party but even though he is gone the late man will be always be remembered of the legacy he has left behind for the APC.
During the tributes the High Commissioner of the Sierra Leone Embassy in the United Kingdom, Edward Turay, said Chukuma Johnson achieved a lot for the APC, he has held the position of chairman of the party, and his position of deputy speaker of the house of parliament.
High Commissioner Turay said he knew the late man during the APC court case between APC members themselves and the late man was straightforward in his decision which he was always stood by, no matter what the situation
Others member of the UK and Ireland branch, Mr Mackie U Sheik Acting Chairman APC UK & Ireland, Mr Isreal O Parper Auditor–General APC UK & Ireland, and Mr Emmanuel O Stafford PRO of APC UK & Ireland all gave tributes.
During the memorial service members of both the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) in the UK were also present.
The late man served in different capacities on various boards such as the Government Secondary Technical School, and host of others institutions.
The late Chukuma Johnson was buried in Waterloo Cemetery on Sunday July 29th 2012. The late man will be missed by the APC for his contribution and President Ernest Bai Koroma said the late man has been a pillar of support for his achievement in the nation.
