Two in police net for double registration

Bo, July 24 (SLENA); Assistant Inspector General of Police for the Southern Region, David Sesay (in photo) has revealed to SLENA that two suspects are in police custody for double registration.

He said the two were handed over to the Bo police after they were found wanting for violating NEC’s Electoral Act 2012.

AIG Davis Sesay said the two suspects would be investigated and if found wanting charges would be preferred on them.

He said they are closely working with NEC and PPRRC to ensure that all activities connected to the election process were well taken cared off, adding that he has summoned all southern and eastern regional local unit commanders to speedily respond to all NEC matters and other related issues.

In the area of security, AIG confirmed that for the time being the southern region is very calm but noted that for the past week the police had been able to arrest twenty-one armed robbers, nine of which would be charged to court.

He said they have established and launched the local partnership board to help the police in policing the Bo township and called on the authorities in Freetown to increase the number of police personnel and other logistics in order to make the police more proactive ahead of November 17th.
