‘I’ll be the next Deputy Mayor’ – Jumu declares
Mr. Abdul Rahim Fofanah popularly known as Jumu, has vowed to become the next Deputy Mayor of the Freetown City Council on a silver platter as he has the ability to poll a considerable number of votes in the forthcoming Freetown Local Council elections slated for November 17, this year.
Formally declaring his intention to run for Councilor, using the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) ticket for Ward 362 in Constituency 101 at the Boston Community Centre at Blackhall Road, Kissy on Saturday, July 21, Mr. Fofanah maintained that as far as he knows, the present Councilor, now acting Mayor of the Freetown City Council, Mr. Gibril Ibrahim Kanu has abandoned the ward. He stressed his determination to reverse this negative trend by bringing unity, development and prosperity in the community.
Addressing hundreds of community people, especially youths, he said he has always had a passion for his people, and said he is determined to translate this into positive development by representing his people in the Freetown Municipal Council.
He stated that the SLPP was the party that brought Independence and democracy to this country for which history would do well in placing such a party in the good memories of the voters.
Speaking on behalf of the youths, the Chairman of the Easy Living Friends, Mr. Amudeen Kamara said they endorse Mr. Abdul Rahim Fofanah as the man to aspire as Councilor to represent their interest in the municipal council administration.
He called on the leadership of the SLPP to give Mr. Fofanah the symbol to contest the elections as they see him as the fittest man to represent Ward 362.
