Hastings Community hold meeting with Salone Chef de mission

During the one hour meeting important issues were raised for the Sierra Leone delegation. According to Simon Harston, a neighboring police Sergeant of Sussex Police said they are very happy to welcome the team who will be staying in Sussex between now and the 2012 Games.
He went further to stay that Sussex is a very safe place and that the crime rate is low but in the unlikely event that you become a victim of crime it is important to inform us so that quick action will be taken to bring the individual to book.
The former MP also out lined plans for the Sierra Leone delegation until they depart on Tuesday for the Olympic Village. He also revealed that the two athletes that will be representing Sierra Leone at the Olympics will be meeting and greeting participants of a special Torch Day Fun run on Tuesday.
He also stated that Ibrahim Turay and Ola Sesay will be at the start of the event at the Pier at 3 pm on Tuesday and they are expected to be accompanied by Pamela Williams as part of the Olympic torch celebrations.
He also revealed that they will be at the launch of the run which goes to Aquila House and back.
Unisa Deen Kargbo in his own contribution said that he is very happy for the facilities provided by the Hastings community to the Sierra Leone delegation. In turn, the Sierra Leone delegation will be inviting at least five people from the Hasting community to be part of the team’s official welcoming ceremony in the village on Saturday July 21st as part of their appreciation to the people of Hastings.
This is the first time Sierra Leonean athletes are having such an opportunity to go to training camp before the games and the athletes have promised to make good use of it and ensured the Hasting community that as the athletes, they are here to train.
Kargbo also went further to appeal to the Hasting community to make sure that they render such facilities to the Sierra Leone athletes.
