Airtel celebrates end of year party with their first adopted school

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. The eleven months school session was both educative and tiresome.  The Airtel adopted school in Tombo closed down its 2011 – 2012 academic school year on Friday and a school party followed on Saturday at a nearby community hall. The purpose of the party was to entertain the children of REC Primary school after eleven months of academic struggle.

The children celebrated the success of the academic year with Airtel as they continue their solid support to the school. During the party some children gave their experience of the academic year and promised to do better in the coming school year.

Airtel provided enough food and drinks for the school children including children from the neighborhood and the teachers. Different games were played including dancing competition, musical chair, modeling and others. The excited colorful dressed kids expressed their happiness and gratitude to Airtel as they jumped all around shouting “thank you Airtel”. Staff of Airtel, teachers and pupils of the school danced together to celebrate.

The CSR project head, Miss June-Rose Johnson said now that school is closed for the long holiday, Airtel will undertake some maintenance work around the school. Presently there is a need for additional furniture for the children and some classrooms need a facelift. There are also plans to bring drinking water into the school compound and there is talk of building a perimeter fence.

She reiterated that Airtel is committed to REC Tombo and the company will continue to support the school for as long as Airtel is in Sierra Leone.
