NEW Calls Halt to Hate Broadcasts
The National Elections Watch sublime name known as Civil Society Electoral Engagement Process (CSEEP) has been engaging various media institutions as well as stakeholders in discussing the dangers of hate broadcasts ahead of the November 17 polls.
As the civil society has as part of its function to oversee elections in the country, the Society for Democratic Initiatives (SDI) serving as the lead in collaboration with the Western Area Oversight Committee on elections has continued to admonish major players for them to resist hate speeches as they are a recipe for chaos.
As Sierra Leoneans are moving towards an historic electoral calendar, the question of election violence is a cause for concern by many stakeholders, as fingers are being raised that the past decades, electioneering processes were marred with riotous and violent conducts.
As the intense pressure grows over people’s postulation that the November 17 elections will not face an easy ride, CSEEP in it wisest wisdom has being trying to eradicate this crucial thought of hate speech which has the potentials to ignite chaos and anarchy in the country.
In this regard SCEEP has slated a date on June 26th to engage all stakeholders over this issue as it concerns a through look over.
