Constituency 47 vows to go Independent
The people of Constituency 47, which comprises of Kasonko and Bafodia in the Koinadugu District have disclosed to Sierra Express Media that they would rather vote for an independent candidate, if the All People’s Congress (APC) secretariat insists in giving the symbol to the incumbent Hon Philipson Kamara (in photo).
Speaking further the constituents said Constituency 47 is always reserved for the APC since time in memorial, but this time they have a demand call that it is high time the 35 year in politics Hon. Philipson Kamara quits the annals of history as his long stay in politics is able to account no development in that area.
They said since 1977, when Hon. Philipson Kamara took the reign in politics, following his appointments as Minister of State, High Commissioner to Ghana, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Minister of Transport and Communication and crown it all being the Member of Parliament that represents their District, he has done nothing to ameliorate their plights.
They accused Hon. Philipson Kamara of abandoning his constituency with little or no effort to bring potential donors to help address the many challenges the constituency faces.
The honorable was also accused of not doing enough to make education accessible as the distance between Towns, Villages and School is far too much discouraging for some school going children pursuing their education.
They blame the honorable for the non-completion of the Gbentu Thelia road expected to be completed since August 30th of 2010, whilst complaining the lack of proper medical centers in the District as the only strategic one the District can boast of is the Health Centre at Fadugu, Bafodia and Thelia health Centers respectively.
When contacted, Hon. Philipson Kamara denied the allegations reducing them as fury lies. He said he has been visiting his constituency, and that those allegations were never made by his people but some shortsighted politicians who are bent on destroying his image and credibility in order for them to achieve their purposes.
For the Gbentu Thelia Road, he said the contract was agreed to be terminated and hand it over to a better performing contractor who would spearhead its completion.
He admitted that it was true that the District is deprived of major developments due to the fact that the responsibility of equitably distributing development rests squarely on the central government and not a single individual like him who also need collaboration to succeed. Hon. Philipson disclosed that he has plans to transform the fortress of education in the District.
