On 7th December 2009 at the magistrate court number 3, Thomas B Kargbo appeared before magistrate Shellon for frauding the sum of Ten million Leones from Isatta Kamara for piece of land at Cassava Farm.
Prosecutor PC 10395 Koroma told the court that Isatta Kamara who resides at Cassava Farm early this year gave Thomas B. Kargbo the said sum for a plot of land at the same area, he said after Thomas B. Kargbo received the money he took Isatta to a plot of land which he had earlier on sold to one Agnes Koroma. In due course, the prosecutor submitted to the court, Isatta embarked on preparing the land for construction. While in the process, a lady named Agnes came and alleged that the land belonged to her and that no other person was authorized to carry out construction on it without her consent. With the confrontation she said, without wasting time she immediately contacted Thomas on his cell phone and explained to him what had happen on the site but he promised handling matter she noted.
In her explanation she told the court that she gave the money to Thomas in the presence of one Alfred Campbell who is now her witness but that the gentleman has decided to defraud her even though he is conscious of the fact that she is a single parent family.
All this while she noted, Thomas did not apply any effort to make sure she gets her money back.
Magistrate Shellon in his judgment said the crime committed is fraud and obtaining money on false pretence which he maintained that Thomas as an individual has behaved like criminal and for that reason; he is going to be remanded at Pademba Prison until the witness Alfred Campbell is available in court to explain what actually happened.
Magistrate Shellon has asked both parties to stop all activities on the site until the case comes to an end. Meanwhile, Thomas B. Kamara was remanded at Pademba Prison and the case has been adjourned to 15th December 2009.     Â
