Giant Crossover for APC
Saturday 9th June, 2012, left the Freetown municipality and its surroundings in a surprising satisfaction, following the declaration of support of one of the country’s biggest political gurus, former flag-bearer aspirant of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), Alhaji Usuman Boie Kamara. The ceremony saw thousands of jubilating supporters of the ruling APC party coming from all parts of the country to surrender their support and loyalty to Alhaji Usu Boie as an individual and the APC party as an institution.
As the sounds of traditional drums and songs filled the atmosphere, what met the eyes were a variety of traditional masquerade, cultural dancers, hunter societies, and many more in attendance to grace the already elaborate ceremony of a giant crossover to the ruling party.

There were lots of speakers introduced to the podium by the party’s Secretary General, Mr. Victor Bockarie Foh who was clad in his party attire of white shirt, red-tie and red sombrero hat to match.
The crème de la crème of the opposition was at stake over the weekend as a total of 554 SLPP members came along to the APC with their leader Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara into his final crossover occasion.
Mr. Mohamed Jabbie, former SLPP youth chairman for the south, Mrs. Kadie Johnson-Cole, former flag bearer aspirant for the SLPP and Major Sengu Koroma, the Sierra Leonean- American soldier and flag bearer aspirant for the SLPP, to name but a few, were all in support of the APC and the crossing over of the GEM, Alhaji Usu Boie.
To crown it all, most of the speakers talked about H.E. Ernest Bai Koroma’s development initiatives and the lack of tribal politics in the APC party.
Alhaji Usu Boie’s crossover makes an effect on one hand that cross section of members who called themselves his supporters came to add the number margin of supporters that are already in the ruling system. Politics is a game of number and many have begun insinuating that the November election are going to run straight forth without run-off. Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara is a force to reckon with anyway, but as a media institution we’ll only bank on the fact that campaigns have not started yet. Until such time when the stronghold ideology is being put into test, the tidal waves of support and gross marginal groups would determine the fate of those politicians who would decide the win, win situation or it opposite.
However, the APC needs to be told that they have a lot to think about and do for their new converts who evidence have shown that they quit-abandon their positions of responsibilities in the opposition to come as ordinarily members to the APC. This is said because they had a position of scorn at the opposition on the same premise of fact that they are supporters of Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara. Without much ado, like Usu have said the work has just began to actualize the development aspirations of the country.
