Deputy Minister reassures the public

Freetown,  June (SLENA)- The Deputy Minister of Information and Communication, Mr. Sheka Tarawally has reassured the public that by the end of this year, the fibre optic, a project designed to enhance communication nationwide would become a reality.

Addressing journalists at the weekly press briefing in the conference hall of the Ministry of Information and Communication last Thursday, the deputy minister reiterated his ministry’s determination to improve the communication sector of that ministry, emphasizing the importance of Information Technology and Communication as a vehicle for national development.

“Our progress in ITC is in step with the President’ agenda for change which ends at the end of this year,” Mr. Tarawally disclosed, adding that the government has done the ground work to move this country to the next phase of the agenda for prosperity.

“We want to make sure that with the agenda for prosperity every citizen enjoys an appreciable standard of living,” he added and referred to the infrastructural development taking place in the road and energy sectors, etc. “We want to transform this country, with the agenda for prosperity,” he said.

In reference to the new agenda, the minister noted that some people say ‘di pa de woke but di mammi nor de cook’ (literarily meaning ‘the man works hard but the wife doesn’t prepare meal’). “This time the mummy will cook and all the children will eat to their fill, “he assured.
