Labour Minister Restores Hope to Africell Workers
Minister of Labour and Social Security, Mr. Hindolo Sumanguru Trye (in photo), his Deputy, Mr. Emmanuel Ngaima, and the Chief Labour Commissioner restored hopes to the protesting Africell workers last week.
The workers took to an industrial strike action against their terrible working conditions on May 28 but the Minister’s intervention and his team brought a sigh of relief to both parties.
The workers and management concluded at a 65% salary increment, 15% medical allowance and 25% housing allowances from a staggering 100% earlier pinpointed by staff representatives.
The Africell workers have meanwhile thanked the government for their swift intervention into their plight.
