Whatever you may say…

Sierra Leone was marred in an eleven year brutal civil war and economic hardship during the past decades. This lead to serious human deprivation and basic necessities of lives; human survival was a total retrogression to the nation as a whole.

It’s crystal clear that Sierra Leone is still rising from the ashes of the war and the economic turmoil that once gripped this nation, so many say it’s a national duty to every Sierra Leonean to be very conscious when it comes to national issues especially on areas concerning development, peace and security.

The stance for national unity is a recipe for our seeming development. `Nationalism` is what many say should be the  language on the lips and minds of every Sierra Leonean  in order for us to move this nation from the brink of collapse, to one that is respectable in the globe and human development index ratings.

Sierra Leone is a country that is blessed with natural mineral resources, but tribalism, regionalism and decades of embedded corruptions by those in higher places or positions of trusts had plagued that thereby causing abject poverty.

Whatever one may choose to say, the country is now moving in the right direction of national development, though on a slow pace but it’s on the open air for all to see, the massive nationwide road constructions network around the country the Bum Buna hydroelectricity which is now supplying electricity almost interruptedly are all indicators for a nation that is progressing. Many will attempt to smear and undermine these initiatives base on their political affiliation and philosophy calling them cosmetic projects, while many applaud them as signs of better days coming.

Apparently these critics of national progress are what former President Ahmed Tejan Kabbah dubbed as “Bad Heart” persons, a food for thought – think about it.

No matter  who is doing the job, it is Sierra Leone that is our prime concern, so let us don’t be a pulling down factor as we only share one thing in common which is Sierra Leone.

It is on record that we witnessed massive infrastructure development under the leadership of late Siaka Stevens following the civil war which wiped out some of those legacies.

Whatever you may say H.E. President Ernest Bai Koroma is working assiduously to heal the cracks of this nation, on the other side of the coin to make a well balanced and nationalistic judgment of an energetic and patriotic leader like H.E. Ernest Bai Koroma.

One may not say one is singing songs of praise for his excellence but rather embracing development and in the name of the national development.

The November polls are speedily approaching and as a nation, we must avert that animal instincts of violence and undertake a non- violence approach to see that the elections passed off peacefully as in 2007.

The Liberian war lord Charles Taylor trial over aiding and abating war crimes in Sierra Leone is a clear indication that none is above the law come the November polls.
