Freetown,  May 31 (SLENA)- Parliament has approved a 34 million United States dollar Agreement between the Government of Sierra Leone and the African Development Bank for the rehabilitation of Mototoka-Sefadu road.

Presenting the agreement to parliament, the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Mr. Momodu Kargbo said the road rehabilitation cover 120 killometers , noting that 29 million US  dollar would be funded by what he referred to as the fragile state facilitate fund while 4.9 million us dollar is from ADB.

The deputy minister said the funding would also include 20km feeder roads which will include the rehabilitation of three primary schools and the rehabilitation of one community hospital, adding that payment of loan agreement is within a period of 40 years.

He further said that funding for the completion of the road from Mototoka to Kono will be supported also by ADB.

MPs present in parliament made useful contributions in respect of the said loan agreement. An opposition member, Hon. Tamba Kaibanja of the SLPP said the project does not reflect the aspirations of the Kono people, but rather the beneficiaries would be those in the Tonkolili district.

Other members from the two main parties also made useful comments.
