Courteville to Compensate SLRTA

Hon. Adeliza Showers, High Court Judge of the Sierra Leone Law Court on Monday 28th May, 2012 threw out of Court the matter between ‘Group of Nigerians Trading’ as Courteville and the Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority (SLRTA)’.  (Photo: SLRTA Executive Director, Dr. Sarah Finda Bendu)

The learned Judge also lifted an interim injunction the court earlier slammed on the SLRTA not to enter into any agreement with any other company relating to the issuance of licenses and further ordered Courteville to pay compensation to the SLRTA for cost of action.

The Court further admonished Courteville to exhaust the structures of arbitration as stated in the contractual agreement between them and SLRTA.

Courteville is a Nigerian own company that was contracted by the SLRTA to automate the transactions of the authority relating to the issuance of vehicles and drivers licenses.

According to SLRTA sources, after nine months of dismal performance, the Board and Management of the authority decided to terminate the contract on the grounds that Courteville was not performing as stated in the contractual agreement.

The contract was supposed to last for ten years but it only lasted for nine months.
