Major S Moody has told Sierra Express Media Media that the First Battalion troop comprising of 850 personnel are currently preparing for the peace keeping mission in Somalia.
He spoke yesterday in response to local media claims that the said peace keeping troops have left already for the mission.
He said the battalion is currently receiving peace keeping special training in line with the standard generic modules to keep them on trends with peace keeping pre-deployment experiences.
Major Samuel Moody informed Sierra Express news desk that the first Sierra Leone battalion will jet into the mission shortly as AMISOM counterparts in international peace keeping.
Updating the media he said a visiting team from the African Union would be in town next month to asses the troop’s pre-deployment prospect facilities before they take off to Somalia. He said the contingent will be headed by Lieutenant Colonel Abu-Bakarr Conteh.
Mr. Moody says that the Army has always being working hand in glove with the media as Major Ken Jabbi has been assigned as the contingent’s media officer.
