Women’s Forum Network launches sensitization and mapping out initiative
The Women’s Forum Network with support from UN Women Salone has launched a national sensitization and mapping out initiative of women aspirants for the November general elections. (Rosalind Mcarthy, President of Women’s Forum Sierra Leone)
Speaking at the launching ceremony which was held at the YWCA Old Hall, Brookfields, Freetown, the president for Women Forum Network Maude Frances Peacock said that it is of great necessity that such an initiative is being launched so as to have the issues of women, especially those into politics being put in the forefront with better opportunities.
She went on to say that, they are very much appreciable of the help that UN Women always give to them in order to push forward issues of women.
She also said that they will be launching the initiative at the province and ensuring that more women are sensitized for them to aspire for more positions.
Speaking on behalf of UN Women, the acting head, Melrose Kargbo said that UN Women as an organisation is working on the promotion of wome, they will do everything within their power to make sure women are being priotized.
She said that since the setting up of UN women, such as promoting journalists, preaching non-violence messages among women and their male counterparts and also building the confidence in women, will help them in positioning themselves properly for election.
Melrose Kargbo the acting head of UN encourages all women to be steadfast in pursuing what they stand for always.
