Bikes takeover Freetown
The city of Freetown is jam-packed with motor cycles plying as commercial cyclists with the name Okada. The rise in number of bikes reigns more than usual in the plying routine and they cannot escape the traffic go-slow any more. By their fast running description Okada serves the quests of commuters with fixed appointment and business persons who are stranded due to the inaccessibility of commercial vehicles.
The commercial part of Freetown covering an area between Up-Gun turntable hosts both human and vehicular traffic. Street trading is a common cause and the police and Traffic Wardens are neck deep too lacing with handshake scandals.
Away from such perennial stereotype, fuel shortage came to add its burden and the whole streets are currently a tight-fit with rough tides of traffic.
We wake on Sunday morning April 15 and realised there were obvious queues. Fuel shortage always happens with stories explaining either an astronomical increase in the international pump price or delay in arrival of purchased stocks slow in distributing the stock in the chain of demand and supply.
