Energy Minister reveals future of water resources in Salone – The Minister of Energy and Water Resource (MEWR) in collaboration with Wash–net Sierra Leone recently commemorated World Water Day in Freetown. Oluniyi Robbin-Coker spoke of the importance of the day to all water users in the world. He said the theme of this year’s world water day is “Water and Food Security” which he said in other words means that the world is thirsty because it is hungry. The minister maintain that his colleague Minister of Health and Sanitation, Haja Zainab Hawa Bangura, the Deputy Minister of Energy and water resources Martin Bash Kamara were in Monrovia for a day experience – sharing with the Liberian president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf which was facilitated by water Aid International.
Director of Finance says MPs are hard to facilitate – The Director of Finance in the ministry of Finance and Economic Development, Mr. Matthew Dingie said he faces serious challenges to facilitate members of parliament with regards their constituency development funds because that is the council’s overlap function and the funds are not there. Matthew Dingie was speaking in a session organized by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) for parliamentary and staff on the topic MPs engagement with their constituencies development funds frame work and regulations.
China sends 201 Doctors to Sierra Leone – The Chinese government has dispatched 15 batches of medical teams totalling 201 doctors to Sierra Leone to contribute to the free healthcare service delivery system of the country.
At a dinner marking the 40th, anniversary of the China-Sierra Leone friendship held at the Chinese Embassy at Spur Loop, the Chinese Ambassador, Kwang Wei Li said the Chinese doctors have worked assiduously in Sierra Leone by proving curative treatments for the sick. He described the work of the Chinese Doctors as unique contribution to the development of the free healthcare service delivery in Sierra Leone.
Sierra Leone / Guinea discusses Yenga – At a two day joint Sierra Leone / Guinea commission on cooperation held in Freetown at the Bintumani Hotel, Aberdeen the disputed territory issue of Yenga in the Kailahun District, Eastern Sierra Leone was addressed.
Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International cooperation, Joseph Bandabla Dauda highlighted some of the assistance Guinea has rendered to Sierra Leone and the strong bilateral ties existing between the two sisters’ countries noting that they should not allowed border issue to separate them apart.
In his statement, the Guinea minister of International Cooperation Koutoub Moustapha Sano described the day as a great day for the two countries as they will energize the cooperation and bilateral relationship between the two countries noting the level of assistance provided to Sierra Leone by the government and people of Guinea are manifestations of the quality of the relationship that exists between the two countries which will be translated by the present government to ensure that peace, stability and Economic growth are achieved in the interests of both countries.
