Palo Conteh said the independent media have often denied the military priority of being featured regularly in their editorial coverage. “What we have done in that regard is to feed our quarterly magazine with relevant issues covering the activities of the military operations that will guide the reading public to understand their army”, Palo stated.
He encouraged journalists to work as close friends with the army and crosscheck every piece of information they might be holding against the army for the sake of fair, accurate, and balanced reporting.
Editor–in–Chief of the DEFENDER Magazine, Brigadier S.O Williams said the 32 page magazine contains well researched articles and stories with interesting insights and features that will help to give the public better information on activities of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF).
He paid tribute to his editorial team for being resilient, dedicated and hardworking which he said ensures the quality attraction of their colourful maiden edition. Distribution of the maiden edition and lunch climaxed the ceremony.
