Importer Union plans Million Man March of thanks for President Koroma

President of the Sierra Leone Importers’ Association who doubles as President for the Amalgamated Traders Group, Mr. Alhaji Tanue Jalloh (in photo), has expressed gratitude to His Excellency the President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma for a job well done. Speaking at a news conference held in the conference hall of the Freetown City Council on Monday, Mr. Tanue Jalloh said since President Koroma took office from 2007 to 2012 there has been a clear manifestation of his works and fulfilment of his promises.

He noted that the areas of health, education, infrastructural development, and roads, amongst others, have all come to fruition under his watch in the first quarter of his five year first term.

The Amalgamated Traders Group is comprised of the Sierra Leone Clearing and Forwarding agencies, the Sierra Leone Drivers’ Union, transport owners, passengers’ welfare organization, bike riders and petty traders.

Mr. Tanue Jalloh said the Amalgamated Traders’ Group are planning a Million Man March on Saturday March 24, 2012 across the country to show appreciation and thanks to His Excellency, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma. He said people from all corners of Sierra Leone would converge at the Victoria Park in Freetown leading a procession to the National Stadium.

Mr. Jalloh maintained that the match would show their appreciation and thanks to His Excellency the President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma and to propose a day to be set aside to be observed as a national holiday for traders in the country, having considered their immense contributions towards the socio-economic development of Sierra Leone.

Mr. Tanue Jalloh noted that traders are the largest employers in the country and have contributed a lot to Sierra Leone’s economic development.

Mr. Tanue Jalloh called on all to come out in the proposed march as a show of appreciation to His Excellency the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma for what he has done.

He called on all to be peaceful and law abiding citizens in the country ahead of the November elections.

In his contribution, Mr. Jibril Kanu congratulated President for the Sierra Leone Importers Association and Amalgamated Traders Group, Mr Tanue Jalloh for their contribution towards nation building, adding that several consultations have been held to express their big thank you to the His Excellency the President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma.
