Police Boss, 14 Others in Court for Armed Robbery

At the Law Court on 25th Wednesday 15 suspected Armed Robbers were handed over to the Law Court officers who were arrested for armed robbery with aggravation and unlawful possession of arms and ammunition. Among the alleged armed robbers that appeared before Magistrate Davies Cole were senior police officer A.S.P. Mohamed Bayoh Bangura, Ishmael Deen Mansaray Alias Ti-Ghana who is the first accused, Mohamed Kabba, Sorie Monrovia, Idrisa Bangura, Alimany Kamara, Mustapha Kamara, Lamin Kamara, Joseph Kanu and Ibrahim Bangura who were charged with robbery and aggravation whilst Amara John Sannoh was charged for murder.

According to the court report, the accused persons were arrested at various areas in Freetown, in places like Lumley Beach, Aberdeen Beach and within the Kissy environs in the city while attacking citizens of this nation and taking away a huge sums of money. In the preliminary police report the accused persons took away the sum of Le 17,000,000 from one Sahr Augustine Munu and other valuable items.

Police female officer attached at the Law Court Lockup, Sergeant 3921 Jackson E. told Sierra Express Media about the recent intelligence reports from their different areas of operations that there are certain groups of armed men who have embarked on harassing the country and fortunately for the police they have been nabbed and under trial for their crimes.

Sergeant 1817 Turay attached at Court Number 11 told this press that the accused persons were brought to court from the Criminal Investigation Department where they have been for the past days for proper interrogation. He said the police is reliant on the ordinary citizens to supply them with needed information that could lead to the nabbing of the rest of the other robber folks that may presently be on the run.
