SLBC Broadcasting to USA, Europe & parts of Africa
The New England Ville, Western Area-based Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) studios, now broadcast to the United States of America, Europe some parts of Africa and anywhere, where there is High Speed Internet net-work.
According to the Merchant for “tv4africa” Channels, Zacharie Joly Nkondo, SLBC can be viewed and heard live – anywhere in the universe, where there is High Speed internet”.
All Programs including News, Views, Documentary, Obituary Announcements, Public Notices, advertisements, dialogue entertainments aired at the New England Ville Studios in Freetown, can also be viewed live, here in the United States of America.
The discovery was made one week ago by the office of the Information Attaché and it was fully supported by the Ambassador His Excellency Bockari Kortu Stevens and Head of Chancery Sheku Mesali who instructed further investigation and implementation.
Apart from the reception, and three other connections showing SLBC programs at the Embassy, other Sierra Leoneans residing in the USA have also started accessing the Broadcaster.
The signal is very strong and the images and sounds are not experiencing any difficulty during transmission.
According to the Merchant Zacharie Joly Nkondo, tv4africa began broadcasting SLBC a little over one year ago through fibre optic, when SLBC went on Satellite.
SLBC programs can be accessed through the internet and can be connected to television sets.
According to Joly, there are three possibilities to log on to “tv4africa”: It can either be done Manually, Automatically or Plug and Play.
Manually, one has to download the tv4africa software free, donate five Euros through online payment. Soon after the donation, a user login data Indicating input when and where needed will surface, while at the same time, a login code will be sent to your email.
Automatic use will need a USB dongle one time for a onetime fee of Twenty Euro, and also donate Five Euro to get log in data that will be encrypted in the USB dongle. Consequently, a user will not need to input a login name, once any person wants to view.
The plug and play user will require a special USB plug and play, to store the software that will enable it access the TV Anywhere, where there is internet.
In an Interview, Sierra Leone’s Information and Communications Minister Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo said SLBC now broadcasts via satellite. He said the Broadcaster has two stations (News & Current Affairs and the other Entertainment).
The Hon. Minister concluded that Broadcasting from Sierra Leone to Europe, USA, part of Africa and wherever there is Internet was one of the integral items of President Ernest Bai Koroma’s Government agenda for change.
“This is the very first time in the History of Sierra Leone, that Sierra Leone National Broadcaster is viewed live from other Continents.” Said Mr. Patrick Ngor Joe Muanah a Washington D.C resident.
