D J Base speaks after SLBC exit
Popular Disc Jockey and Nightline producer, Mamaja Jalloh aka DJ Base said he quit the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) for personal reasons to forge ahead with life. Mamaja Jalloh spoke to Sierra Express Media yesterday in an exclusive interview stating he did not intend to quit in shock: “I gave prior notice to the board and management of the SLBC on my leave. I also informed the listening public about my decision to leave, though it was shock to them, they will cope with my absence at the SLBC. Though it is not a real absence as I’m going to be producing a more youth conscious Night Life program”, stated, DJ Base.
He now works for Africa Young Voices (AYV) Radio FM 88.4 and produces a program called Night Life similar to his previous Night Line program on UN Radio and SLBC respectively.
DJ Base said he handed in his resignation on March 2nd this year. Asked how his presence at the AYV radio would influence the listening public, he said he would help to create more awareness and consciousness among the youth with conscious vibes. To his colleagues at the SLBC he said he has enough respect for them. He however encourages them to keep working hard.
DJ Base is a young man, married with two children. He attended the Sierra Leone Grammar School in Freetown. He started his Disc Jockeying affairs before 1999 on shows and carnivals and later applied to 98.1 Radio Democracy. In 2001 he worked for the United Nations Radio in Freetown for a period of 10 years and later incorporated into a national public broadcaster, the SLBC where he is being working for the past two years.
DJ Base is exceptional quality DJ who does various job tasks from entertaining the audience with music to creating sensation and informing the people with conscious vibes, current happenings in everything including news and all.
He is missed at the SLBC by many people but says he would fondly be remembered by his Nightline program and is conscious vibes.
