Navy harass fishermen – Fishermen and fish mongers in Goderich community have expressed frustration over what they describe as constant harassment by head of the naval unit of the Sierra Leone army officer in Goderich P.O Pratt.

In spite of an earlier agreement for the fishermen to surrender one out of every 30 fishes caught to the naval unit, the head of P.O Pratt insists that the fishermen must make a special allocation to him as head of the unit.

Their feelings were made known at a general meeting held at the Goderich wharf on the March 10, this year.

PPRC District Monitoring Committee inaugurated – The Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) has established District Monitoring Committees in Kono, Kailahun and Kenema District in the Eastern Region.

This was made known by the Regional Mediation and Programme Officer of the PPRC, Victor Hugo Kamara.  Victor Hugo Kamara said the committees were inaugurated to ensure that they monitor the operations of political parties, and ensure that the PPRC’s code of elections conducts are kept

Koinadugu District loses 32 days of registration – The Chairman of the All People Congress (APC) in Koinadugu District, Dr. Fasineh Samura has said the Biometric Voter Registration is entering its final phase with a huge number of potential voters being left out due to the non functioning of computers in certain registration centers, amounting to thirty-two working days.

The chairman alleged that during the first and second phases of the registration exercise, a total of 21 Centers went without registration as a result of poor-trained computer operators, unreliable generators and computers, and a poor number of other factors.

ACC closes Mayor’s case – The prosecuting Tram on the ongoing trial of the suspended Freetown City Mayor – Herbert Akieremi George Williams, Chief Administrator – Bomenson Fredrick Phillips, and seven others who were indicted by the ACC on various counts of corrupt practices and abuse of the office before High Court judge Justice.  J.A.B Katusi yesterday presented their final prosecution witnesses (PM 17118) and closed their case, it is now for the defense teams of all accused persons to open their case of defense by producing witnesses, if any.

Airport workers panic – According to The Exclusive Newspaper of Tuesday March 13, President Koroma returned from Abuja Nigeria to discover workers negligence on duty at the Lungi international airport. This sent a wave of panic as many, including the General Manager and his Deputy, are uncertain what is awaiting president Koroma’s query verdict to the authorities.

SLPP’s Robin secures bail – The Ariogbo, News Hunters Newspaper and Awoko of Monday March 12 reported that the cell laden not so honorable Robin Falley was released from the claws of the Kenema Cells on a bail of hundred million Leones with reputable sureties.  Robin is warned to beware and save himself from the Aziz Carews situation by not proving defiant with the laws of the land. He is told to report in court at anytime wanted.
