Police Constable Mansaray Dies
Police Constable 13211 Mansaray M met his untimely death on Friday March 9 in a raid of a wounding suspect at the Mabella community. The suspect, Abu Bakarr Kamara of 35 Hagan Street, Freetown was reported to have stabbed Issa Bangura of 33 Hagan Street in the same community at about 6:30 in the morning.
“We received a distress call from Hagan Street to report the assault where we responded swiftly”, Edison B. Tucker, Crime Officer of the Eastern Police Division states.
ASP Kelvin S. Samura who led a team of four police officers told Sierra Express that they chased the suspect down to the old Mabella Fishing Company compound. He said the area was rugged with corrugated scrap metals. So the late cop met his untimely death when he ran to capture the suspect that the surface earth cut underneath them and he hit his head on the jetty. He bled profusely which led to his death. Meanwhile four others are left with serious injuries currently hospitalized at the police hospital. The late cop’s remains have been buried.
